History

The Association was the first state-wide organization formed for the sole purpose of organizing all recreation Clubs for Senior Citizens into one statewide organization to promote, plan, coordinate, and implement activities and events for the older citizens of North Carolina. Representatives from local Parks and Recreation Departments who sponsored Senior Citizen Clubs from across the state met in Raleigh with members of the North Carolina Recreation and Parks Society in 1957 and formed the state-wide organization, which was originally named the "North Carolina Council of Senior Citizens", which later became the North Carolina Association of Senior Citizen Clubs. On April 15, 2014 NCASCC became a nonprofit incorporated organization and on September 14, 2014 NCASCC Inc. was determined by the US Internal Revenue Services to be a 501(C)3 tax exempt organization.
